If you’re expecting a baby, congratulations! This season of life is full of excitement and anticipation, and a little bit of chaos. One question I hear all the time from growing families is:
“How early should we book our newborn session?”
The short answer? As early as your second trimester.
But let’s talk about why.
Why Booking Early Matters
As a professional newborn photographer, I only take a limited number of newborn clients per month to ensure flexibility in my calendar. Babies rarely arrive on their due date! Booking early allows me to reserve time around your estimated due date and ensure we can schedule your session within that ideal window.
When Is the Best Time to Photograph a Newborn?
I photograph newborn within the first 1-3 weeks ideally but can accommodate any situation or preference after that window. I keep your due date as a placeholder and we book the official date once your baby is born.
By booking early (around your 20-week mark or sooner), you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’re on my calendar, and we can adjust your session date once your baby arrives.
What If My Baby Is Already Here?
Don’t worry! I understand that life gets busy! If your baby has already arrived, reach out anyway. I occasionally have last-minute openings and love to accommodate when I can. I also offer timeless baby-led posing that works beautifully for slightly older newborns.
